How many clients can I physically take?

Your ceiling is about 44 clients a week. Past that, more income only comes from a higher ticket — the day has no more room in it.

HOW THIS CALCULATION WORKS

Capacity is the honest ceiling on a volume strategy. Knowing it turns 'I need more clients' into either a real plan or a clear signal that price is the only lever left.

  • Slot length = service minutes + turnaround minutes
  • Clients per day = working minutes ÷ slot length
  • Clients per week = clients per day × days worked

A WORKED EXAMPLE

8 hours a day with a 45-minute service and 10 minutes turnaround is 8.7 clients a day, about 43 a week.

These figures come from the example inputs above, not from industry data. ChairScale does not publish benchmark numbers until it has enough verified data to do it properly — read the methodology.

QUESTIONS BARBERS ASK

Should I plan to run at full capacity?

No. Full is fragile. Plan around 80–90% and keep room for the client who runs late and the walk-in you want to keep.

How do I raise capacity without rushing?

Shorten turnaround rather than the service, stagger the more time-consuming services, and stop double-handling admin between clients.

What if I offer several service lengths?

Run the calculator once for your most common service, then again for a longer one, and plan your day as a mix.
