HOW THIS CALCULATION WORKS

Barbers usually decide about days off on feeling and then regret it on payday. Putting the trade in dollars makes it a plan: raise the ticket first, then cut the day.

  • Weekly gross now = price × clients per day × days worked
  • Price to match = weekly gross now ÷ (clients per day × new days)

A WORKED EXAMPLE

$45, 8 clients a day, 5 days: $1,800 a week. Move to 4 days and you need $56.25 a service, or 10 clients a day, to hold the same week.

These figures come from the example inputs above, not from industry data. ChairScale does not publish benchmark numbers until it has enough verified data to do it properly — read the methodology.

QUESTIONS BARBERS ASK

Which should I change — price or volume?

Price, if your book is near full. Volume, if you have open slots on the days you are keeping.

Does a shorter week hurt retention?

Only if clients cannot find a slot. Check utilization on your remaining days before you drop one.

What about a shorter day instead?

Same maths. Reduce hours per day and use the capacity calculator to see the new ceiling.
